As a Board Member of Lacrosse the Nations, a role that helped lead to the development and launching of GivingSomeThing, it is a pleasure to share this story. -Dave Campbell
Early this morning (approximately 1am), I lay in bed with my mind racing about a variety of things --- GivingSomeThing, Lacrosse the Nations, things to do. I began to think about an upcoming trip that I will be taking to Nicaragua with Lacrosse the Nations (LTN) and the all that I need to square away before heading to Central America. Having recently spent some time with LTN in Costa Rica, I realized during my visit to Managua we will need to perform some basic maintenance on the program's lacrosse sticks. This mainly includes fixing the stringing, making sure all the sticks have screws holding them together, and taping the handles for grip and securing both the head and the buttend to the stick.
Needing tape for this stick maintenance project, I could go to the store and pick some up. However, it was also an opportunity to connect with one of our many LTN supporters who are anxious to help. I posted a 10 pack of athletic tape to our Needs List, posted an image of the tape to Facebook, an explanation of why we needed it, and included a link to GivingSomeThing.
Within 7 minutes the tape was donated!
This screen shot tells the story (note the time stamps):

This is an example of several things that we seek to achieve with GivingSomeThing:
- Help donors choose how they want to make an impact
- Provide a tangible giving opportunity
- Increase transparency
- Provide this process with no fees for donors or nonprofits
- Harness the power of social media and clear calls to action
For Lacrosse the Nations, this process helps us connect our support-base to our mission and allow people like Andy have a direct impact on our program.
Thanks to Andy for his support of Lacrosse the Nations and GivingSomeThing. The tape that you donated will be heading with me to Nicaragua later this month!
